We defined content curation in a previous post here and noted that the role of the editor is undertaken by a myriad of individuals be it a professional journalist , a marketer who is responsible for using content as part of the marketing mix, a blogger, or in reality anyone that publishes online.
In another post here we gave some tips to content curators also noting that most people inadvertently already act as curators whenever they decide to post a link or video to their social networks to show their friends they have found great or topical content.
Over the last few weeks people have asked us how they can dip their feet, so to speak into content curation and see what it's like and gain some insights. Well, to this end we would like to recommend 3 "tools" that in our view will allow content curation neophytes to gain an understanding of the power of curation :
1. Redux is a video content curation application for Google TV .
2. paper.li is a Twitter curation app that allows users to create a basic online newspaper around topics of interest to the user and the community they wish to address or influence.
3. sccop.it allows you to create and or curate an online magazine with hooks in to various social media . Check out the video below
Ok , now just get a nice coffee, your laptop and or mobile phone sit back and try some of the simple curation tools to get an idea of what can be done !
